VISION THERAPY Vision therapy can help us at any age.
Children: One out of four children in school is having difficulty in learning. The majority of their frustrations come from poorly developed visual motor and visual perception skills. These skills are directly related to learning and can be enhanced through a program of vision therapy. Our office tests for these skills on every child and when needed skilled therapist assist the children in learning how to improve their visual skills.
Adults: Vision therapy can help those who have suffered from poor reading attention, find they have headaches when doing computer or reading tasks, or find they have to read and re-read things again and again for meaning.
LASER VISION
Laser surgery removes tissue
from the cornea to improve
focus and correct poor vision. With a history of over 16 years in Europe and over 10 years here in the United States, the track record for laser vision effectiveness and safety is excellent. This method of vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism is now offered as an option for each and every patient; especially those who do not want to wear glasses or contact lenses. We provide free consultations to see if you are a good candidate for this newest vision correction.
COMPUTER VISION
Over seventy five million people use computers every day. More than half of those will suffer from Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).
Special testing with a PRIO tester,
which duplicates your computer screen,
can determine exactly what prescription
is needed to relieve these symptoms
and make your computer work easier. This is caused by the constant effort it takes for our eyes to focus on a compute screen. Symptoms include; tired and sore eyes, headaches, blurred vision and fatigue. Unlike a book or newspaper, the images on a computer screen are made up of tiny, glowing dots called pixels. Since these pixels appear without clearly defined edges or background contrast, our eyes can’t lock the images into focus. Our focus continually drifts to our eyes’ natural focal resting point behind the screen and strains to regain focus on the screen hundreds of times an hour as we work on the computer.
There will be 21 million children on-line or using computers in school this year. It is especially important to have them tested since they will be spending more and more hours on a computer as they progress through school.
LOW VISION SERVICE
Mission Statement To Maximize the ability of visually impaired patients
to perform specific everyday tasks.
The Low Vision Service was created to evaluate the visual needs of patients with vision impairments, identify optical devices to assist patients with everyday tasks, and train patients in their use. Eye diseases like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma limit a patient’s ability to perform common tasks like reading a book, reading a prescription bottle, watching television, or writing a check.
Corrective devices vary in complexity,
and include this spectacle-mounted
autofocus system designed for a wide
range of everyday tasks.
Spectacle-mounted telescopes are a convenient
and popular way of correcting low vision.
LOW VISION AIDS Over 14 million people in the United States have reduced vision from a variety of eye diseases such as Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Glaucoma. Presently, these patients do not have a surgical option to improve their vision. The Low Vision Service will evaluate the visual needs of patients with these diseases, identify optical devices to assist patients with everyday tasks, and train patients in their use. Low Vision devices such as Stand Magnifiers, Spectacle Mounted Telescopes, and Closed Circuit Televisions can enhance a patient’s remaining vision and allow them to perform common tasks like writing a check, reading a book, and watching television.
Devices like Stand Magnifiers, Spectacle-Mounted Telescopes, and Closed-Circuit Televisions can enhance a patient’s remaining vision, help patients perform common tasks, and allow patients to regain independence.
